~~~UNDER CONSTRUCTION~~~
a catalog of some of my favorite pieces from my closet
(many already long gone, sold or given to friends throughout the years)
my interest is mostly antique beaded / chainmail mesh purses, especially from the 1880s until the end of the art deco period
i think this particular piece is my favorite out of my collection, she is dated from the 1890s. i purchased her from an antique dealer that sells exclusively victorian / edwardian era women's accessories & clothing. the beading is this gorgeous color shifting mauve-ish pink glass, that in certain light is purple or blue. i've never seen anything quite like it. the lining is all pure silk, which includes a small little pouch with brown lace embroidery & little rosette (all in the same delicate silk, even coming apart in certain areas). the lady who previously owned it must have only used it on few occasions, since the beading is entirely intact, which is pretty rare. i believe the handle was added much later, it may have had a beaded handle or chain in its original form. regardless, it's a beautiful piece of work that showcases artistry that simply does not exist anymore. below i will include a small collection of more of these victorian / art deco beaded purses from my collection. enjoy :' )
below are vintage bags, mostly stuff from the 1960s (i've sold many variations of these in the past)
below is a wicker basket purse with a lucite handle from the 1960s
i found the exact 80s plastic basket purse from the 1984 rohmer film, "a full moon in paris"
(love this film so much, had to track down pascale's bag)
kitschy shaped novelty purses from the 90s & children's 1960s plastic clown coin purse
my favorites are pillbox hats from the 1940s - 1960s, obsessed w/ anything velvet & with a mesh veil
circa 1940s silk velvet pillbox fascinator hat w/ beautiful pink ribbon work & velvet blue bows, a unique hat in my collection!
this is probably the most unique 1940s hat i own, i'm not quite sure the proper way to wear it, but straight on it almost looks like cat ears. it has the most beautiful detailing of millinery mesh flowers & pearls, along with a delicate mesh embossed with velvet stars.
various red velvet 1950s hats
circa 1920s tulle bridal headband w/ velvet ivory flowers 1950s lilac velvet headband w/ mesh & velvet bow
˚ʚ♡ɞ˚ veil / mantilla / headscarf love ˚ʚ♡ɞ˚
this is actually an edwardian era lace net collar, but it makes a great veil too ~!
i love a nice tulle headscarf, i have them in every color!
this is a 1950s women's tulle hair net cap (meant to protect women's hair also to cover
their hair if it's in curlers) regardless, they are super cute & come in many pretty styles seen here
with the added lace flower appliquΓ©s
favorite materials: sterling silver, mother-of-pearl, opal, fire opal, moonstone, lucite,
abalone shell, lapis lazuli
silhoueta handmade pearl brutalist ring & 1970s modernist bubble ring
antique golden locket & french holy medals
